Daily Offering

As a Christian, one expects to grow and to change everyday. A huge part of this growth is letting go of certain things that are inside us, letting go of things that are important to us. If we are not able to let go of these things then God is not able to replace them with a better thing. The Lord has been speaking to me about this and I was inspired to write a poem to express it:

The saviour’s standing at the door
But we’re holding on to ourselves
He’s offering us so much more
But we’re holding on to ourselves

He needs a servant and a friend
But we’re holding on to ourselves
One who’s faithful to the end,
But we’re holding on to ourselves

He’s offering a shining crown
But we’re holding on to ourselves
A chance to bring the darkness down,
But we’re holding on to ourselves

He’s offering unending love,
But we’re holding on to ourselves,
And true redemption from above,
But we’re holding on to ourselves

The saviour’s standing at the door
But we’re holding on to ourselves
He’s offering us so much more
But we’re holding on to ourselves

Sometimes it’s easy to go about our personal relationship with God just receiving from Him and giving nothing back. We must begin to live our lives as offerings to God, daily sacrificing the things we love for He who died on the cross for us.
